Kentucky: KYU
Applies at 60,000 lbs and up. The KYU number is free at drive.ky.gov; tax is 2.85 cents per mile on quarterly returns.
New Mexico: weight distance permit
Applies over 26,000 lbs. Register through the state's TAP portal at tap.state.nm.us, then quarterly returns by weight and miles.
Oregon: weight-mile tax
Applies over 26,000 lbs, and Oregon handles fuel tax for these vehicles through weight-mile rather than IFTA. Enroll (or buy temporary passes) at oregontruckingonline.com before you run; new accounts may need a bond or deposit.
