Hours of service

Also: HOS

Hours-of-service rules set how many hours a commercial driver may drive and be on duty, and the rest they must take, to reduce fatigue-related crashes. For property-carrying drivers the core limits include an 11-hour driving limit within a 14-hour on-duty window after 10 consecutive hours off. Different limits apply to passenger-carrying drivers.
